Late in August, I visited Jodie Manasevit's studio for the first time since 2013 (
Bushwick Open Studios, 2013 post). The work has changed from the rich, Bonnard-like palette to a more elegant, subtle touch and coloration. So taken with her elegant studio filled with paintings and drawing studies, I did not photograph the work but looked, and talked, and looked some more. Manasevit generously shared these images at my request so I can share them with you.

The group. Little chips of color, each gesture visible on the plane, with seasons, and neighborhoods, and all sorts of memories naturally conjured in the fields of these paintings. |
